Pennant Bowls

Pennant bowls is the ultimate team competition in lawn bowls, where members proudly represent Rye Bowls Club in the Mornington Peninsula Bowls Region competition. Team members work together across a number of rinks towards the ultimate goal of winning an annual Pennant flag. Played in Club uniform, Pennant bowls offsets competitive bowls and its stricter Rules of Play, with friendship, teamwork and camaraderie. All of which make Club life so enjoyable.

Both Saturday Pennant and Midweek Pennant (played on a Tuesday) runs from October to February, at home and away venues, across the Mornington Peninsula. Saturday matches begin at 1:00pm and Midweek matches begin at 10:00am. Both are played over 21 ends of two bowls per player per end.

All players must be registered with BowlsLink. Teams are selected and posted in the Clubroom window at various points each week, with practice matches held before the season to assist with team selection and player development.

Both competitions offer keen but friendly competition and are a great way to improve your game, enjoy competitive team bowls as a representative of the Club and build lasting friendships within Rye Bowls Club and the wider bowling community. After the game, players often come together for refreshments, friendship and of course, a few “if only…” stories!

Whether playing on Saturday or during the week, donning the Club uniform within the sport of Pennant Bowls, is a wonderful way to enjoy a unique feeling of belonging, as an esteemed member of the Rye Bowls Club.

A feeling that is never more true. You actually “Come for the Bowls. Stay for the People.”
