Becoming a Member

Three tiers of membership at Rye Bowls Club

Full Membership

Full membership entitles you to enjoy all areas of the Club, Club rooms, our greens and competing at other Clubs in accredited competitions, both Pennant and with a more social atmosphere between other Clubs.

As a full member you can choose the level of engagement which suits you best. From attending the Club either casually for a quiet drink, a catch up with other members or for an organised social event, through to entering both Social and Pennant bowls competitions.

With full membership, you are automatically registered with Bowls Victoria. Reciprocal rights and the ability to carry membership to other States, gives you the ability to enter full competition locally or even across Australia, extending your sporting capacity if you wish.

Pennant at Rye Bowls Club is offered on Saturday and Tuesdays and managed by a dedicated team of Selectors. Wednesday twilight is managed by Steve and Jan.

Social bowls are offered on Monday and  Wednesday and is managed by the Match committee of Alan Knowles (0427 832 322) and Brian Richardson (0427 973 006). Please contact them if you have any queries.

Lists are available in the glass cabinet on which members can place their names for team selection each week.

Full membership concession

(First year and Junior Membership)

This membership category gives you the same entitlements as Full membership and is offered to those in their first year of competing for Rye Bowls Club and to junior members, to provide some financial assistance.

Social membership

If you have not been previously associated with lawn bowls, many people join our Club as a Social member. Social membership entitles you to become part of our community while not deciding to engage in the sport of lawn bowls fully.

With a social membership, you have full access to the Clubrooms and our many social and Club events. You have access to all the general information and most of the Member areas on the website. You can even wear a Club polo shirt with our logo on the front (available in many colours).

Even though you may not be ready for the competitive nature of Pennant bowls, Social membership entitles you to enter nominated events throughout the year and the Wednesday twilight competition. Barefoot bowls over summer is a great way to dip your toe in the water and decide if lawn bowls is for you. This low impact sport may be just what you need to maintain flexibility and build social interaction.
